This June, our adventurous 1st Richmond Beaver Scouts joined Beavers from across the country to take part in the exciting Damboree 2025 — and what an incredible weekend it was!
With the theme “A Journey Through Time”, our Beavers were taken on a magical camping adventure through the ages, packed with fun, learning, and unforgettable memories.
🏕️ Our Time-Travel Adventure Begins…
From the moment we arrived at camp, the excitement was high. Tents were pitched, sleeping bags unrolled, and our young time travellers got ready for an action-packed journey through history!
🛡️ Romans & Vikings: Crafting the Past
Our first stop in history took us deep into the world of the Romans, where the Beavers got hands-on making their own Roman mosaics — carefully placing colourful tiles to create beautiful patterns inspired by ancient designs.
Then we leapt forward to the time of the Vikings, where Beavers crafted their very own Viking bracelets and learned about Viking life through themed activities and storytelling. While we didn’t meet a real Roman this time, the creative sessions brought history to life in a fun and engaging way!
🏅 Let the Games Begin!
In the spirit of the Ancient Olympics, our Beavers competed in classic (and not-so-classic!) games. From sack races to javelin throwing (foam, of course!), there were cheers all around — and lots of teamwork on display!
🔥 Skills for Life: Backwoods Cooking
Our time-travelling Beavers also had the chance to get hands-on with backwoods cooking — learning how to safely light fires, cook over embers, and enjoy tasty treats like damper bread and toasted marshmallows.

Creative energy was flowing as Beavers built their own cardboard shields, designed Viking Bracelets
🚂 All Aboard the Time Train!
To wrap up our epic journey, the Beavers boarded a real train ride, giving them a chance to relax and reflect on the incredible weekend. The smiles said it all!
🔥 A Campfire to Remember
We ended the weekend with a magical campfire under the stars, singing classic Scouting songs, sharing stories, and enjoying hot chocolate as the sun went down.
