1st Richmond Scout Group has been knocking around North Yorkshire since 1909.
Richmond has a rich history connected to the founder of Scouting, Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scout movement, briefly commanded Richmond Castle and was involved in the planning of Catterick Garrison, which became a significant military base during the First World War.
Today, the Richmondshire Scout District is one of the largest rural Scout Districts in England, with active groups serving young people from various backgrounds and abilities.
We’re currently packed to the rafters with children in every section from Beavers, right through Cubs, and Scouts. We run a full and balanced programme giving the children a chance to participate in activities that they may not come across in their every day life alongside useful skills that they definitely will need in their every day life.
The group is staffed and run by a group of volunteer leaders and helpers who put in a great deal of effort behind the scenes (and in front) to ensure that the programme we run is of the highest quality possible. They also have quite a bit of fun themselves.
Drop us a line if you have something to say or something to ask, or even better if you’d think you could give us a hand.
Yours in Scouting
